Asharqia Chamber presents its best greetings to you and would like to inform you of receiving the letter from the Council of Saudi Chambers No. (291) dated 7/2 / 1440H, which pointed out that the Council received the letter of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority No. 7766 / AS dated 29/1 / 1440H, which includes the efforts of the Authority to monitor and follow up the safety of locally marketed cosmetics products based on the cosmetic products system issued by the Royal Decree No. (M / 49) dated (18/6/1436).
Samples of individual hair products from the local markets were collected and analyzed to ensure their safety.
The results of the analysis showed that the hair straightening product "HT Hair Talk Keratin Plasma Thermic Straightening Step 2" contained a high percentage of formaldehyde exceeded the GSO standard of GSO 1943, as the exposure to high levels of formaldehyde may lead to a health risk to the consumer.
Therefore, the Authority confirms the prevention of selling the product described above and return it to its suppliers, and the importers and distributors of this product should remove it from the outlets and warehouses and coordinate with the Authority to destroy it in order to avoid the issuance of sanctions.
